Duterte’s Cabinet secretary gets Leni Robredo’s post at HUDCC

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco as the new head of Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) following the resignation of Vice President Leni Robredo.

Presidential Communications Office Secretary Martin Andanar confirmed the appointment on Monday as the Cabinet holds a meeting in Malacañang.

"PRRD just appointed CabSec Jun Evasco to head HUDCC. This is on top of Sec. Evasco's current job responsibilities," he said.

Duterte has already accepted Robredo's resignation "with a heavy heart."

It was Evasco who sent Robredo the text message that Duterte no longer wanted her to attend Cabinet meetings starting on December 5.

Duterte's first Executive Order on July 4 said that Evasco would oversee 12 national government agencies:

  • Cooperative Development Authority
  • Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council
  • National Anti-Poverty Commission
  • National Commission on Indigenous Peoples
  • National Commission on Muslim Filipinos
  • National Food Authority
  • National Youth Commission
  • Office of the President - Presidential Action Center
  • Philippine Commission on Women
  • Philippine Coconut Authority
  • Presidential Commission on the Urban Poor
  • Technical Education Skills Development Authority

Evasco was Duterte's national campaign adviser. He was a former rebel priest and the former mayor of Maribojoc town in Bohol. —NB, GMA News
