'Caloy' grows stronger, storm signal no.2 in Bicol, Samar


Tropical storm "Caloy" gathered strength Thursday evening and was moving toward Samar and Bicol provinces with maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometer per hour near the center and gustiness measured up to 120 kph. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) placed under storm signal no. 2 the provinces of Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Samar, Camarines, and the islands of Burias, Ticao and Biliran. Pagasa hoisted storm signal no.1 in the provinces of Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Leyte, and the islands Polilio, Siargao and Dinagat in the province of Surigao. Residents in affected areas are advised to take precautionary measures against possible flooding and landslides. Based on its weather forecast, Caloy would be 200 kilometers north-northwest of Catarman, Samar or 80 kms. west of Virac Catanduanes by Friday.–GMANews.TV
