Jee Ick Joo’s househelp a suspect in kidnap-slay —Angeles PNP

The Angeles City police is considering the house helper,  who worked for the family of South Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo, a suspect for his kidnapping.

Initial investigation showed that the house helper, who the police refused to name, may have been involved in Jee’s abduction in October 2016, GMA News’ Jun Veneracion said in a “QRT” report on Thursday.

The report said the helper had only been working for the family for two days when the abduction happened.

The helper was also kidnapped along with Jee, but was later released, the report added.

Investigators were further baffled when after talking with the relatives of the helper in Tarlac and Pangasinan, they found out that the suspect did not use his or her real name while working for Jee’s family.

The Angeles City police has already turned over the case to the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group for further investigation.

Jee was abducted together with his househelp from his home in Angeles City, Pampanga by armed men last October 18.

His wife Choi Kyung Jin said eight armed men, including SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel who is connected to the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Group, took their personal property, jewelry, and her passport as well as her daughter's.

On Tuesday, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced Jee was dead after getting a tip from an informant that led government agents to the funeral home.

On Thursday, PNP chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said Jee was killed inside Camp Crame.  —Erwin Colcol/NB, GMA News
