Bato dela Rosa: I don’t care about public satisfaction rating

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Thursday said he does not care about the public satisfaction rating on the campaign against illegal drugs as long as the PNP is doing its job.

“I don't care about rating na iyan, hindi naman ako pulitiko, hindi naman ako tumatakbo. Basta kami we are here to implement the law, enforce the law no matter what,” Dela Rosa said during a press conference after the donning of rank for newly-promoted police officials.

A Social Weather Station survey conducted from March 25 to 28 showed that the net satisfaction with the anti-drug campaign is now at a “very good” +66, or 11 points and a grade lower than the “excellent” +77 it received in December last year

The PNP chief said he does not care if people were hurt by the campaign as long as the policemen were able to do their job.

“Masagasaan ka man o hindi basta ginagampanan namin ang trabaho namin, bahala na kayo diyan. You can give us negative rating basta trabaho lang ginagawa namin. That's why I don’t care,” he said.

PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos earlier said the drop in public satisfaction rating is a challenge to the police organization.

"So still it is a challenge for us. If we can raise the figure, the acceptance of the public, it would be a good indicator that we have the support of the public," he said.

The survey also showed that the "extent of worry" among adult Filipinos that they or anyone they know will be a victim of summary execution slightly went down to 73 percent from 78 in December. — Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMA News
