JV Ejercito promises to reform socialized housing

PANDI, Bulacan – Senator JV Ejercito on Tuesday promised Kadamay members that the socialized housing industry will be reformed.

During a dialogue with the group here, Ejercito said that measures will be taken to prevent future housing projects from being left idle.

His pronouncements drew loud cheers from Kadamay members, who welcomed the dialogue with Ejercito, who chairs the Senate committee on urban planning, housing and resettlement.

Later in an interview with reporters, Ejercito said he intends to reform the housing industry after the Kadamay issue shed light on the problematic socialized housing processes.

"Ang intention natin ay reform in the housing industry," he said

However, Ejercito asked for the cooperation of Kadamay to find a solution to the issue.

During a meeting with Kadamay chairperson Gloria Arellano, Ejercito explained that they must pay for the housing units they occupied so the government can create more housing sites.

Arellano said that Kadamay members will pay for the housing units if they were given jobs.

"Napagusapan na rin namin ni Sen. JV dati na kailangan magkaroon ng trabaho ang mga tao," she said. — RSJ, GMA News
