Instead of filing it, critics submit Robredo impeach rap to 'male lawmaker'

Contrary to their earlier statement, a group of lawyers critical of Vice President Leni Robredo did not file the impeachment complaint against her on Tuesday, but instead submitted it to a lawmaker.

Bruce Rivera, spokesperson of the Impeach Leni Movement, did not identify the lawmaker, only describing him as male.

"We cannot divulge the identity, that was their request. It’s a delicate matter and they have to discuss what to do," Rivera said at a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon.

"We understand the situation, so we gave all the copies of the impeachment [complaint] to that particular congressman," he added.

Impeach Leni Movement earlier in the day announced that it would file the impeachment complaint at 1 p.m.

Rivera explained that they were initially planning to submit the complaint to the Office of the House Secretary General, but they "were instructed to send it to a congressman’s office" instead.

The lawmaker, then, will forward it to the House secretary general, he added. —KBK, GMA News
