Hundreds killed in two months of PNP's 'Double Barrel'
A total of 271 drug suspects were killed and 15,711 others arrested as of Tuesday, May 9, since the Philippine National Police (PNP) relaunched its anti-illegal drug operations two months ago.
PNP data showed that as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, 9,921 police operations have already been conducted, with the number of slain suspects climbing by 153 from last month's record.
Of those who were killed, 75 were recorded in Region 3 while 60 were recorded in the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
Data also showed that the number of drug suspects arrested almost doubled, up up by 7,023 from April's data of 8,688 to a total of 15,711 drug personalities arrested since March 1.
Most of the arrests happened in the National Capital Region. Below is a breakdown of the number of arrests per region:
