Beaten up watchman files raps vs. village attackers

The security guard caught on CCTV camera being mauled at an entrance of a subdivision in Bacoor, Cavite has pressed charges against the group of men that attacked him, an exclusive report by GMA News' Oscar Oida on "24 Oras" said Monday.

In the CCTV footage that went viral on social media, "Jojo" (not his real name) was seen talking with the suspects whom he prevented to enter the subdivision due to a lack of homeowners' association sticker.

The group was about to leave the scene but opted to return to the gate and hit Jojo who tried to fight back but was overwhelmed by the three persons.

Jojo said the suspects, whom he said are residents of the subdivision, attacked him because they were displeased at the P10 entrance fee.

Jojo added that the suspects also stole items and money at their outpost.

A separate CCTV footage recovered by the Bacoor Police shows that the suspect attacked another security guard, Gilbert Vitug, following the incident.

The footage showed Vitug was onboard a motorcycle patrol with his lady boss when the group attacked him. His boss failed to restrain the suspects.

Vitug said the suspects may have turned against him since he tried to help out Jojo.

PO3 Michael Legaspi Jr., investigator of the case, said they have reviewed both CCTV footage and has found probable cause to file attempted homicide and robbery against the suspects.

"Ang ikakaso namin sa mga suspek is attempted homicide and robbery kasi ninakawan pa s'ya ng gamit nung mga suspek tapos sa guwardya naman, yung isang binugbog na guwardya, is attempted murder kasi wala naman siyang kinalaman dun sa unang insidente pero siya yung binuweltahan," Legaspi said.

Meanwhile, one of the suspects involved in the incident said she was harassed by Jojo which prompted his brother to hurt the security guard.

Tinampal niya pero hindi nya sinuntok," Alyssa Batallones said.

Batallones also justified that they held Jojo to prevent him from using his baton against their group.

—Joseph Tristan Roxas/NB/BAP, GMA News
