2 dead, 2 hurt in brazen Makati shooting


(Updated 2:20 p.m.) At least two people were killed while two others were wounded in a brazen shooting incident in Makati City past noon Wednesday. According to eye witnesses, the driver of an Isuzu D-max was instantly killed when suspects opened fire on his vehicle in the middle of the Gil Puyat-Makati Avenue intersection. While a bystander who was earlier rushed to a hospital after being hit in the shooting also succumbed to gunshot wounds while undergoing treatment, radio dzBB reported. The two other victims who were onboard the target vehicle with plate no. ZHB-908 are still being treated in an undisclosed hospital. Authorities have yet to identify the casualties as of this posting. Witnesses said three gunmen opened fire at the victims’ vehicle with plate no. ZHB-908 around 12:45 p.m. But even while the driver was fatally hit, the vehicle did not stop until it hit a pavement of the Pacific Star building located a few meters from the intersection. The suspects fled onboard an Isuzu Highlander, which they later abandoned along Kalayaan Avenue. Police said robbery may have been the motive behind the shooting, saying the group inside the vehicle came from a bank prior to the shooting.
