Robredo attends Mass for 59th birth anniversary of husband Jesse

Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday attended a Mass in Naga City for the 59th birth anniversary of her husband, the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.

The Mass was held at the Eternal Gardens in Barangay Balatas, Naga City, where the remains of Sec. Jesse is buried.

Robredo's mother Sally Gerona, along with the siblings of Sec. Jesse, Jean Robredo-Tang and Butch Robredo, were present in the family event.

Robredo delivered a "thank you" message after the Mass in which she highlighted the legacy of her husband.

"Ang pinakamalaking legacy ni Jesse... hindi lang dahil siya ay matino at mahusay pero nagbigay siya ng inspirasyon para sa lahat ng kasama na maging mahusay din. At hindi lang mahusay din tulad niya, pero lalo pang higitan ang kanyang kahusayan," the VP said.

"What set apart Jesse from other, he really inspired people to be better. He really inspired to push themselves to the limit," she added.

Jesse Robredo died on August 18, 2012, when the small plane carrying him and an aide crashed in the sea off the coast of Masbate province.

He was en route to Naga from a conference in Cebu City when the plane crashed. He and the two pilots were killed; the aide survived. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/LBG, GMA News
