Senator Antonio Trillanes on Sunday slammed President Rodrigo Duterte for speaking like a madman in his speech for the 2nd Mechanized Infantry (Magbalantay) Brigade of the Philippine Army in Iligan City.

"Diyan mo makikita na may diperensiya sa pag-iisip talaga 'tong si Duterte," the senator declared in an interview with dzBB.

"Napakamanyak mo siguro mag-isip kapag ganiyan," he added.

Trillanes further dismissed the defense that the President made the remark in jest, saying that the highest officer in the land should behave in an exemplary manner.

Dapat gan'on e, pero baligtad," he added.

Duterte in his remarks on Friday told soldiers, "'Pag naka-rape ka ng tatlo, aminin ko na akin iyon."

Following backlash from human right groups, the Palace on Saturday said that the President was "speaking with heightened bravado" and "exaggerating" to boost morale. —Aya Tantiangco/ALG, GMA News
