Malacañang to launch 'Mindanao Hour' to update public on Marawi operations

Malacañang on Sunday said it will launch this week the "Mindanao Hour," a program to update the public on developments regarding the armed conflict in Mindanao.

Set to start on Monday, May 29, the program is in line with the government's efforts "to give updates on what is happening on the ground in Marawi and elsewhere in Mindanao."

In a statement, presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said the Mindanao Hour will be every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:00 a.m.

According to Abella, additional updates may be given during his press briefings scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday.

Aside from this, there will also be updates through state-run Radyo ng Bayan every Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 a.m., led by both Abella and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesperson Brigadier-General Restituto Padilla Jr.

This comes after President Rodrigo Duterte placed the entire island of Mindanao under martial law for 60 days on May 23, following attacks by Maute group in Marawi City. —Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/ALG, GMA News
