Resorts World releases list of 36 persons killed in attack

Resorts World Manila Chief Legal Officer Gina Alvarez released the names of the casualties in the shooting incident which killed 36 people.

Southern Police District chief Senior Superintendent Tomas Apolinario also clarified that the body count pegged the death toll at 36, and not 37 as earlier reported.

The 36 included the gunman who killed himself.

"Well sa ngayon we have 36, including the gunman. The bodies are ano eh, nasa punerarya," Apolinario said.

"They're making sure na wala na talaga..." he added, noting that bodies were recovered from the second floor.

Apolinario took said the suspect did not target the persons inside the hotel-casino.

"This person just enters the building and shoots in the air, hindi sa tao... So there's only one incident na nagpaputok siya because there was a firefight between the security guards of the casino and the suspect..." he said.

He also reiterated that the motive being eyed is robbery.

"Malaking motive dito is the robbery... It's not terrorism. Kung buhay man siya, tingnan natin kung normal 'yung pagiisip niya," Apolinario said.

Meanwhile, the identity of the suspect is being investigated, noting that authorities are looking into the records of Resorts World Manila to determine if he had been playing in the casino.

"Tinitingnan din ng records ng casino kung frequent player siya," he said.

Apolinario also said they have one person of interest.

"That's part of the investigation. We went to the house of the person of interest. Inamin niya nandito siya pero sinabi niya di niya kilala 'yung namatay," Apolinario said.

"We try to identify pa sino 'yung identity niya. Then meron kaming person of interest, isa pa lang..." he said. —NB, GMA News
