Duterte threatens to fire Ubial over slow delivery of AFP’s medical equipment

President Rodrigo Duterte has warned Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial that she will be replaced if she would fail to procure the medical equipment needed for the military as soon as possible.

Duterte before the troops of the 403rd Infantry Brigade at Camp Bahian in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon reiterated his commitment that the soldiers would not be the least and the last in his administration.

The President recalled that time he went to the V. Luna General Hospital or the AFP Medical Center and found out that the military lacked a number of modern medical equipment.

“And would you believe it, itong gobyerno na ‘to, ewan ko noon pa ‘to. Na kaka-bidding lang, kaya sinabi ko kay Ubial, ‘Do it in 60 days, or do it this month. Kung hindi ninyo palitan ‘yang procedure, kayo ang palitan ko.’ Si Secretary Ubial mismo,” Duterte said.

‘I can’t… Don’t give me that s— about a bidding process. Eh kung wala namang magnanakaw diyan sumasali, bakit patagalin niyo nang ganun? Sabi ko, ‘Change the procedure or I will change you,’” he added.

This was not the first time that Duterte spoke against the procurement process of the medical equipment that he promised way back in August 2016.

During his visit to the military hospital then, Duterte said he would not want to follow the government’s “lowest bid” rule. —NB, GMA News
