6,000 cops to secure Batasan complex during Duterte's 2nd SONA

At least 6,000 policemen will secure Batasan Pambansa Complex while President Rodrigo Duterte is deliving his second state of the nation address (SONA).

National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde said the deployment of 6,000 policemen around the complex is part of their security preparations for the SONA on July 24.

Albayalde said that during Duterte's SONA, activist groups will be allowed to get near the Batasan Pambansa Complex's gates.

Meanwhile, rallyists will be allowed only on a few lanes of Commonwealth Avenue, which leads to the Batasan Pambansa Complex, to ease the traffic flow on the main thoroughfare during the SONA.

The House of Representatives will also deploy its own security people inside the congressional complex.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines is also expected to provide support to the police. —ALG, GMA News
