Taiwanese wanted for drug trafficking tries to bribe BI officials

Immigration officials have nabbed a Taiwanese man wanted in his home country for drug trafficking, a report on GMA's "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday revealed.

According to an exclusive report by John Consulta, Lee Shun Hsien, who is wanted in Taiwan for drug trafficking, came to the Philippines to hide from the charges. He operates as a businessman in this country.

In the report, Lee was also caught on camera trying to bribe immigration officials to let him go.

"Magkano? Ako, bayad ikaw," he told the Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers.

"If okay na, I'll call my wife—'Cash, now. Come here.' Pwede?" he added.

The BI said it will not tolerate such attempts.

"Hindi natin ina-allow na 'yung ating bansa ay gamitin nilang taguan or safe haven para sa kanilang mga illegal activities," BI spokesperson Maria Bucasas-Mangrobang said.

The BI is now processing Lee's deportation papers. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
