Terrorists in Marawi City may use suicide bombers —Army captain

Holdover forces of the ISIS-influenced Maute terrorist group in Marawi City  may resort to using suicide bombers in their desperate attempt to defend their positions in the war zone.

Army Captain Joan Petinglay, spokesperson for the Western Mindanao Command, told dzBB that the besieged rebels in Marawi have been using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) more often lately.

In fact, she said, an IED blast caused the deaths of three soldiers in the war zone on Friday.

"Nagkalat ang mga IED sa mga lugar na pinagkukutaan ng mga terorista," Petinglay said.

"Hindi po natin maaaring [balewalain] ang ganung impormasyon because it's [suicide bombing] possible and these people are very desperate and are ready to die," she added. —LBG, GMA News
