Peter Lim hires former cops, soldiers as bodyguards —PNP

After President Rodrigo Duterte linked Peter Lim to the illegal drug trade, authorities began closely monitoring the movements of the Cebu-based businessman and made a surprising discovery: his choice of bodyguards.

Lim is now under the heavy guard of  former police officers and soldiers who have turned rogue, according to the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP - CIDG) Region 7.

"Most of his bodyguards are actually removed from... dismissed from the service either sa police or sa military," said Superintendent Royima Garman, chief of the PNP-Criminal Investigation Detection Group Region 7, in a Balitanghali report.

Cebu City police director Senior Supt. Joel Doria, meanwhile, also observed that Lim seemed to have been keeping a low profile these days.

"So far hindi natin siya nakikita in public eh," Doria said.

Lim was recently charged before the Justice department for his supposed involvement in the illegal drug trade operations of Kerwin Espinosa in Central and Eastern Visayas.

The criminal complaint covered drug transactions from February 2013 to August 2015 involving at least 90 kilos of shabu sourced from Lim and convicted drug lord Peter Co, delivered to a grocery store in Makati City, and distributed by Espinosa's men in Bohol, Samar, Northern and Southern Leyte, Biliran and some parts of Cebu.

According to Marcelo Adorco, an alleged confidant of Espinosa who executed an affidavit on August 4, 2016, Lim has links with the Espinosas, Co, and the so-called "drug queen of Iligan" Lovely Impal. — Anna Felicia Bajo/MDM/KVD, GMA News
