DOJ places Ozamiz Councilor Ricardo Parojinog under immigration lookout

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II directed the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Friday to monitor and report to authorities any attempt of Ozamiz City Councilor Ricardo "Arthur" Parojinog to leave the country.

Aguirre issued the immigration lookout bulletin order five days after the deadly police raid that resulted in the death of 16 people, including Ricardo's relatives such as Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. and his wife Susan.

Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog and her brother Reynaldo Parojinog Jr. were arrested and are now facing criminal cases before the Ozamiz City Regional Trial Court.

Ricardo was not around when the police conducted the raid in his residence, one of the six dwellings that are subject of the search warrants issued by Executive Judge Cecilyn Burgos-Villavert of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Policemen, however, seized shabu and drug paraphernalia, a shotgun, three rocket-propelled grenade launchers, two hand grenades, and M79 ammunition from the councilor's house.

The police have yet to file charges against the councilor.

The Philippine National Police welcomed Friday the decision of the DOJ on councilor Parojinog saying it is a big help to them.

"If that department seem it fit na maglabas ng order para hindi siya makaalis o makatakas, I think it is a big help from that department," PNP spokesperson Chief Superintendent Dionardo Carlos said in an interview with reporters.

He said although there is no arrest warrant against Parohinog there is "an effort to look for him." — MDM/KVD/RSJ, GMA News
