Palace wants Congress to consolidate Arroyo, BTC’s BBL drafts promptly

With the draft of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission’s Bangsamoro Basic Law set to be submitted to Congress this week, Malacañang expects lawmakers to efficiently consolidate it with Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s version.

"The Presidential Legislative Liaison Office will officially transmit the draft Bangsamoro Basic Law to Congress this week," presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said on Monday during Mindanao Hour.

"We leave it to Congress to act on the matter with dispatch including consolidating the Palace version with House Bill 6121 filed by Representative Gloria Arroyo," he added.

Arroyo proposed the creation of a new political division called the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, which would include the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The BTC, however, has yet to provide details of its own version of the BBL, which was presented to President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañang on July 17.

“And there will be no objections of the provisions of all that is consistent with the Constitution and the aspiration of the Moro people,” Abella said.

He also said he had requested both the Senate President and the House Speaker to consider the proposed measure immediately. — BM, GMA News
