Robredo thanks Mocha Uson for including her in online poll

Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday thanked Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson for including her name on the list of possible candidates for the next Social Welfare secretary.

“Nagpapasalamat na din tayo kay Asec. Mocha Uson, na pagpapakita siguro na may tiwala na puwede tayong humawak ng ganiyang kabigat na puwesto,” Robredo said in her weekly radio program, Biserbisyong Leni.

The other names included by Uson in an online poll for the next secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development were former Tarlac Representative Nikki Prieto-Teodoro and DSWD Assistant Secretary Lorraine Badoy.

Robredo overwhelmingly won the online poll with 81 percent votes. Prieto-Teodor only had two percent while Badoy got 6 percent.

Robredo also thanked netizens who voted for her.

“Mas malaki sigurong pagpapasalamat sa mga nagpahayag na ako iyong preference nila, kasi pagpapakita na tinitiwalaan tayo sa ganitong larangan,” she said.

Uson conducted the online poll after the Commission on Appointments rejected Judy Taguiwalo as DSWD secretary.

Malacañang had said Robredo would be a "difficult choice" as the next DSWD secretary.

Robredo was Duterte's housing czar, but left the post after being barred by the President from attending Cabinet meetings in December last year.

Malacañang announced on Saturday that economist Emmanuel Leyco has been appointed as officer-in-charge of the DSWD. —ALG, GMA News
