3 cops involved in Kian delos Santos' case

Photos of the three policemen involved in the anti-drugs operation that led to the killing of 17-year-old Kian Loyd delos Santos has been released.

A source provided reporters of the photos of Police Officer 3 Arnel Oares and Police Officers 1 Jeremias Pereda and Jerwin Cruz, members of the Caloocan City Police Office.

The three policemen have been placed under preventive suspension and restrictive custody pending investigations of the Philippine National Police-Internal Affair Service.

Also ordered suspended were Caloocan City police chief Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna and Station 7 commander Chief Inspector Amor Cerillo.

Policemen killed Delos Santos in an anti-drug operation in Barangay 160 on August 16. Police claimed that Delos Santos fired at the authorities as he was trying to escape, prompting policemen to fire back.

A CCTV camera footage, however, showed Delos Santos being dragged by policemen in plain clothes.

Public Attorney's Office chief Persida Acosta on Monday said Delos Santos' family will file murder complaints against the policemen involved in the operation.

Acosta said the teenager sustained two gunshot wounds in the head and a "treacherous wound" in the back.

The Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs is expected to start its investigation into Delos Santos' killing on Thursday. —Amita Legaspi/ALG, GMA News
