Kian tested negative for gunpowder —NPD Crime Lab

Slain teenager Kian Loyd delos Santos was tested negative for gunpowder nitrates, belying claims that he fired a gun at the policemen who were trying to arrest him during an anti-drug operation in Caloocan City last week.

The paraffin test conducted on Delos Santos' body stated that "both hands of the cadaver do not contain gunpowder nitrates."

"The qualitative examination conducted on the paraffin cast taken from both hands of the cadaver gave negative results to the tests for gunpowder nitrates," the report from the Northern Police District Crime Laboratory Office said.

The specimen submitted to the Crime Laboratory were "a pair of paraffin casts taken from both hands of Kian Loyd delos Santos Dugillo."

The 17-year-old Delos Santos, who police claimed was a newly-identified drug suspect, was killed on the night of August 16 when he allegedly attempted to elude arrest during the anti-drug operation.

Police claimed Delos Santos drew a gun and fired at them, forcing them to fire back.

Reportedly recovered from delos Santos were a .45 pistol and two sachets of suspected shabu with a street value of about P20,000.

His relatives, however, said the items did not belong to the teenager and witnesses claimed the police's version of the events was not true.

A CCTV camera footage also showed the policemen dragging Delos Santos to the place where he was killed, contrary to police claims that he resisted arrest and took off.

Five policemen, including the three involved in the operation, were ordered relieved from their post pending the internal investigation of the police force on the killing of Delos Santos. —KBK, GMA News
