The mother of slain Kian Loyd delos Santos is trying to be positive despite the pain she has been feeling from the death of her 17-year-old son.

"Natutuwa rin ako at nakakangiti na ginamit siya ng Panginoong Diyos para magising ang mga tao na walang kaluluwang pumapatay, bata man o matanda, di na nila mapigilan ang kanilang pagpatay," Lorenza delos Santos said in a report on GMA News TV's Balitanghali Friday.

Lorenza recalled that during the Senate hearing on Kian's death on Thursday, she had looked straight in the eyes of the cops allegedly involved in the incident.

She maintained that her son was innocent and it was impossible that the teenager had been involved in illegal activities such as the drug trade.

Meanwhile, some relatives of Kian from Aklan province went to their residence in Caloocan City to pay their last respects for the Grade 12 student.

Kaya kami halos mangutang kami para lang makapunta dito... masilayan," said one of Kian's relatives.

Police claimed they had killed Kian in self-defense after the teenager, who they accused of being a drug runner, allegedly resisted arrest by firing at them during an anti-drug operation in Barangay 160.

Kian's family, however, said a CCTV camera footage would prove that the teenager could not have run away as he was being dragged by cops after his apprehension.

Witnesses also said they heard Kian begging for his life before being shot to death by the policemen. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
