Duterte admin keeps 'very good' public satisfaction —SWS

The national government under President Rodrigo Duterte's administration continues to enjoy a "very good" public satisfaction, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The results of the survey, first published by Business World, showed that 75 percent of were satisfied with the national government, 13 percent were undecided and 11 percent were dissatisfied.

The survey was conducted from June 23 to 26 on 1,200 adults nationwide. It has sampling error margins of ±3 points for national percentages and ±6 points for Metro Manila, "Balance Luzon," the Visayas and Mindanao.

The SWS said the results yielded a net satisfaction rating of +64, classified very good.

The net satisfaction rating, however, was two points less than the March 2017 survey.

Despite the drop, the national government under Duterte's administration still has the highest public satisfaction compared to the previous administrations -- from President Fidel Ramos's to President Benigno Aquino III's.

Despite the negative international perception on Duterte's bloody war on drugs, "protecting human rights" was among the four issues that the national government received very good marks.

The survey asked respondents to rate the national government on 15 issues.

The three other issues where the national government got very good marks were helping the poor, defending the country's territorial rights and providing jobs.

Issues were the government got "good" marks were fighting terrorism, foreign relations, fighting crime, eradicating graft and corruption, solving extrajudicial killings, reconciling with Moro rebels, ensuring that no family will ever go hungry and reconciling with communist rebels.

The goverment, meanwhile, got "moderate" marks on the recovery of hidden wealth of the family and cronies of late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., resolving traffic and fighting inflation.

In demographic areas, the national government got very good marks in the Visayas (+56), Metro Manila (+67) and Balanced Luzon (+63).

The national government also received very good marks from respondents from across socioeconomic classes. —ALG, GMA News
