Trillanes’ behavior vs. Gordon unparliamentary —Pacquiao

Senator Manny Pacquiao on Sunday said that Senator Antonio Trillanes IV showed an "unparliamentary behavior" in a verbal tussle with Senator Gordon last Thursday.

Pacquiao, in an interview on dzBB said, "May pagkakamali si Trillanes ... yung attitude niya at yung sinabi niya ay unparliamentary, so dapat maareglo 'yan at maimbestigahan sa Senate ethics committee."

Gordon hinted at an ethics complaint against Trillanes, who retorted that he did nothing improper or unethical.

The Gordon-Trillanes verbal clash erupted at last Thursday's Senate blue ribbon committee hearing on the smuggling of the P6.4-billion shabu shipment.

Gordon, who chairs the committee, took offense at Trillanes accusation that the chairman turned the panel into a “committee de asbwelto” for seemingly showing bias for President Rodrigo Durterte's  son Paolo and son-in-law Manases Carpio, who have been linked to the multi-billion shabu smuggling.

Pacquiao on Sunday argued that Trillanes should have shown a little respect to the chairman of the committee.

"Wala akong kinakampihan. Pero, 'di mo pedeng sabihing committee de abswelto kasi wala namang pinapanigan yung pag-imbestiga ng blue ribbon that conducted the hearing in aid of legislation. So, that's the purpose."

Also, Pacquiao said that he is open to holding an ethics committee investigation if there is already a formal complaint.

"Kung may complaint na, obligasyon ng ethics committee na suriin ang reklamo, at kaming members ng committee, ire-review namin 'yan, magmi-meeting at e-evaluate yung mga sinabi at mga pangyayari," Pacquiao added.

Pacquiao is a member of the Senate ethics committee.

Asked if he would support the possible complaint against Trillanes, he said, "Sa nakita ko, may mali na ginawa si Trillanes. Pero ire-review pa natin ang ma pangyayari at saka pag-uusapan ng members."

"Pero, [Tillanes] should have shown respect to the chairman of the blue ribbon committee. Si Gordon ang chairman. Respeto nalang sana," Pacquiao added. —LBG, GMA News
