Paolo Duterte, Manases Carpio willing to attend Senate probe —Palace

President Rodrigo Duterte’s son Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and son-in-law lawyer Manases Carpio are willing to face the Senate investigation on the P6.4-billion shabu shipment that slipped past customs, Malacañang said on Monday.

Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella, however, said that it would be up to the two potential resource persons whether or not to answer questions in the Senate blue ribbon inquiry as regards drugs and corruption in the Bureau of Customs.

“Well, like the President has said, you know, he has given his bless—not the Pres... I’m sure the gentlemen are willing to—as they have said, are willing to face the Senate,” Abella said.

“Well, that will be their prerogative [to respond to questions]. But they definitely… They’ve definitely said that they’re willing to face,” added.

Senator Richard Gordon on Monday announced the Senate blue ribbon committee’s invitation to the two of the President’s kin.

Both the younger Duterte and Carpio have yet to issue any statement as regards the Senate invitation. —NB, GMA News
