Detained Faeldon gets visit from daughter

The daughter of former Bureau of Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon has visited him in his detention room in the Senate.

A Balitanghali report on Wednesday showed photos of Faeldon carrying and hugging his daughter.

According to Faeldon's legal counsel Jose Diño, Faeldon's daughter missed him so much and had been crying since the former Customs chief's detention.

Diño said the daughter stopped crying when she finally saw her father.

Faeldon was "indefinitely" detained at the Senate until he attends the blue ribbon committee hearing on the P6.4-billion shabu shipment from China.

Faeldon said if the Supreme Court or any other judicial body would make an official clarification that lawmakers can violate the Bill of Rights, he will willingly attend the hearings of the Senate and the House of Representatives on the shabu shipment.

He felt his rights were violated when Senator Panfilo Lacson accused him during a privilege speech that he was benefiting from the "tara" system at the Bureau of Customs. —Anna Felicia Bajo/ALG, GMA News
