Carl Angelo’s killing intentional — PAO forensic report

The killing of 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz was intentional, Public Attorney's Office (PAO) forensic consultant said on Wednesday.

A 24 Oras report by Ivan Mayrina showed the PAO's six-page report, which notes the results of the forensic evidence analysis and criminal event reconstruction of gunshot wounds and other injuries found on the teenager.

"Tatlong klase ang nakita namin sa katawan ni Carl, no, 'yung signs na binugbog siya. Kitang-kita 'yan sa mukha niya at several parts of the body,"said Dr. Erwin Erfe.

"Pangalawa 'yung handcuffs niya, may ebidensya tayo diyan... kitang-kita sa kamay niya ang handcuff signs, no.

"And then 'yung pangatlo 'yung tama niya ng bala sa katawan. Tatlo dito sa harap, isa dito at isa dito."

Erfe said Arnaiz had been shot five times: thrice in the middle of the chest, once near the edge of the torso, and once on the arm. He added that based on the gunshot wounds, two suspects killed the teenager.

The report said PAO will file double murder complaints against Caloocan City cops Police Officers 1 Jeffrey Perez and Ricky Arquilita, both of whom claimed that Arnaiz shot at them when they attempted to arrest him for robbing a taxi driver.

PAO, however, believed that there are other suspects in the killings of Arnaiz and 14-year-old Reynaldo de Guzman.

De Guzman was the last person seen alive with Arnaiz. A body believed by PAO to be his, bearing 30 stab wounds, was found in a creek in Gapan, Nueva Ecija.

"Meron tayong John Does, kasi kung sinasabi na nasa restrictive custody na itong dalawa ng PNP eh bakit si Kulot natagpuang patay at lulutang-lutang at tadtad ng saksak. O di meron pa?" said PAO chief Persida Acosta.

"Sabay silang nawala at meron tayong eyewitness na magpapatotoo na si Kulot ay kasama doon sa mobile car nang patayin si Carl," Acosta added.

Meanwhile, Erfe said the account of a new witness who supposedly saw the teenager's killing will strengthen the case against the two policemen.

The witness claimed that he saw two cops shot a kneeling person who was in handcuffs.

"Very credible itong witness na 'to. In fact kinukwento niya 'yung mga scenario, 'yung nangyari ay kinukumpara ko doon sa physical evidence na nakita namin doon sa primary crime scene kung saan talaga binaril," Erfe said.

PAO also expressed its willingness to entertain taxi driver Tomas Bagcal as the latter is planning to seek assistance from the agency.

Bagcal, who sought the protection of the group Rise Up for Life and for Rights, confirmed that Arnaiz robbed him. However, he said, he brought Arnaiz to the police station alive. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA News
