China gives P65M for treatment of troops wounded in Marawi clashes


President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday witnessed the turnover of China’s latest donation to the Armed Forces of the Philippines for the treatment and recovery of soldiers wounded in the clashes in Marawi City.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua handed a check worth P65 million to AFP chief of staff General Eduardo Año in Malacañang.

Duterte said "the assistance provided would be of great help to the government as it pursues the final stages of its operations against the Maute terrorists in Mindanao."

He also expressed the Filipino people's gratitude for China's continuous assistance to the country during the ongoing rebellion in the Islamic city.

 

 

Joining the turnover were Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

China donated P15 million for Marawi City’s relief and rehabilitation efforts and P370 million worth or weapons in June.

It also gave P5 million for soldiers in Marawi and P15 million for the city's rehabilitation. —NB, GMA News
