Sandiganbayan issues release order for ex-Senator Jinggoy Estrada

Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada has been ordered released from his detention at Camp Crame after his lawyers paid P1.3-million bail for his temporary freedom.

The Fifth Division of the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan on Saturday issued an order directing the Philippine National Police (PNP) to immediately release the former senator from detention.

After the Sandiganbayan issued the release order, Estrada's team, led by Atty. Alexis Abastillas-Suarez, will proceed to the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame to fetch Jinggoy and accompany him back the Sandiganbayan for his formal release.

Estrada is facing plunder and graft charges in connection to the alleged misuse of his Priority Development Assistance Fund allocation.

Earlier Atty. Suarez told GMA News Online that after his release, Estrada will have an "opportunity to go around the country to thank his constituents. —John Ted Cordero/LBG, GMA News
