After three months of being held by ISIS-inspired Maute group, Father Teresito "Chito" Soganub was finally rescued during an operation near Bato Mosque in Marawi City on Saturday night.

On her Instagram account, GMA News' Marisol Abdurahman posted a photo of Soganub, taken just minutes after he was rescued.

 

Finally, after more than 3 months in captivity, Fr Chito Suganob was successfully rescued in an operation last night near bato mosque. This picture was taken few minutes aftter he was rescued.

Soganub was taken hostage by the Maute terrorists when the clashes started on May 23.

President Rodrigo Duterte placed the entire Mindanao under martial law following the Maute group's attack on the city.

A video of Suganob previously surfaced on social media where he sought the help of President Rodrigo Duterte. The military, however, had said it was verifying the authenticity of the video. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA News
