ATIO CASTILLO CASE

Pacquiao on hazing suspects: ‘Kung ‘di lang masama, pwede ko sila hamunin, sabay-sabay sila’

If only it was possible, Senator Manny Pacquiao would challenge those behind UST freshman Horacio Tomas Castillo's death to a boxing match.

“Yung mga ganun, yun ang mga duwag eh. Sa totoo lang, yun ang mga duwag na tao, nambubugbog ng tao na walang kalaban-laban eh,” Pacquiao said.

“Kung hindi lang masama, pwede ko sila hamunin, sabay-sabay sila. Kawawa naman yung bata na nag-aaral pa,” he said.

Castillo, a freshman law student at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Civil Law, died after attending the "welcoming rites" of the Aegis Juris fraternity on Saturday night.

Authorities had confirmed that he died from injuries sustained during hazing.

The victim's family learned about the incident when his mother Carminia Castillo received an anonymous text message saying that her son was brought to the Chinese General Hospital.

At present, the Manila Police District has identified three suspects in the death of Castillo — John Paul Solano, Ralph Trangia, and Antonio Trangia.

For his part, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has ordered the Bureau of Immigration to monitor the whereabouts of 16 fraternity members linked to the death of Castillo.

Included in the immigration lookout bulletin order are Aegis Juris fraternity members Arvin Balag, Mhin Wei Chan, Marc Anthony Ventura, Axel Mundo Hipe, Oliver John Audrey Onofre, Joshua Joriel Macabali, Jason Adolfo Robiños, and Ralph Trangia.

Also on the list are Ranie Rafael Santiago, Danielle Hans Mattew Rodrigo, Carl Mattew Villanueva, Aeron Salientes, Marcelino Bagtang, Zimon Padro, Jose Miguel Salamat and Solano. — Kathrina Charmaine Alvarez/RSJ/KVD, GMA News
