Duterte says Luzon, Visayas still not used to his leadership style

Amid protests against the government held in the commemoration of the 45th anniversary of martial law on September 21, President Rodrigo Duterte said people from Luzon and Visayas seemed to be still adjusting to his style of administration.

In his dzBB report, Raul Tolibas quoted Duterte as saying that people have yet to get accustomed to his leadership style, which he also implemented when he was still a Davao mayor.

Duterte held a gathering for members of the press in Davao City Friday night, which lasted up until the wee hours of Saturday. Entertainers present included April Boy Regino, comedian Norman Mitchell, and Jimmy Bondoc.

Duterte has reiterated the end of war in Marawi City was nearing, as government troops continue to battle the remaining members of the terrorist Maute group.

The President also slammed personalities criticizing his government, including Commission on Human Rights Chairman Chito Gascon and Communist Party of the Philippines founder Jose Ma. Sison, who earlier condemned the CA's rejection of Rafael Mariano as DAR secretary and Judy Taguiwalo as DSWD secretary.

Duterte also expressed criticized Senator Kiko Pangilinan's Juvenile Justice Welfare Act, saying the current generation of youth is different from before, as they no more have fears of comitting crimes.

Republic Act 9344, authored by Pangilinan and enacted in 2006, prohibits the imprisonment of people 15 years old or younger. Duterte said the law needed to be amended. — Jamil Santos/MDM, GMA News
