Aegis founder vows no cover-up, says Solano to name names in Atio Castillo hazing case

One of the founders of the Aegis Juris fraternity on Monday told the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs that there would be "no cover up" in the alleged fatal hazing of UST law student Horacio Castillo III.

Attorney Paterno Esmaquel, the counsel of suspect Aegis fratman John Paul Solano, indicated that his client would certainly submit the names of fraternity members involved in Castillo's death.

Esmaquel, one of Aegis' founders, said he was "shocked" when he learned that a neophyte died after undergoing initiation rites by the Aegis Juris.

Solano, a registered medical technologist, was among the persons who brought the badly injured Castillo to the Chinese General Hospital last Sunday. He surrendered to the Manila Police District last week.

"I was shocked... There's really a problem," Esmaquel told the inquiry looking into the hazing case.

Esmaquel said Solano asked him, "GP, magko cover up ba tayo diyan?"

"Sabi ko, no. Let the axe fall where it should fall... I encouraged him to tell the truth and nothing but the truth," Esmaquel said.

"We have already prepared an affidavit and we will name names there," he added. —NB, GMA News
