Solano: I was supposed to tell all about Atio’s death but...

The filing of criminal complaints against John Paul Solano before the Department of Justice prevented him from telling a Senate inquiry all he knows as regards the alleged fatal hazing University of Santo Tomas law student Horacio Castillo III.

Solano made the remark as he invoked his right to remain silent when asked certain questions about the involvement of Aegis Juris fraternity members in the death of its neophyte Castillo.

Solano, who admitted being one of those who brought Castillo to the Chinese General Hospital, agreed to tell senators what he knows in executive session after the public hearing was suspended at past 10 p.m.

Super Radyo dzBB's Nimfa Ravelo reported that Senator Panfilo Lacson refused to give details on the one-hour executive session.

"I was supposed to tell like everything  but everything but since we discovered that I was filed charges, multiple charges i think that i should invole mny right to be silent," Solano said on Senator Risa Hontiveros' question on why he was invoking his right against self-incrimination.

Solano, nonetheless, said that he would tell all in "a counter affidavit under preliminary investigation."

"With no holds barred," Solano said.

Senators Franklin Drilon and Bam Aquino asked that Solano entrust the committee with the contents of his affidavit since the authorities were working to find out those who should be made to answer for Castillo's death.

Police filed on Monday criminal charges with the Department of Justice (DOJ) against 18 people in connection with the death of freshman UST law student Horacio Castillo III.

John Paul Solano, who claimed to have brought Castillo to the hospital, was charged with murder, perjury, obstruction of justice, robbery and violation of the Anti-Hazing Law by the Manila Police District (MPD) that took him into custody following his surrender last week.
