Bato says police organizations around the world want to copy PHL's war on drugs

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Monday said police organizations around the world support the Philippines' campaign against drugs.

"Humahanga sila, yung Interpol. Lahat ng kapulisan sa buong mundo humahanga sila sa ginagawa natin dito," said Dela Rosa, who had just attended the 86th Interpol General Assembly in Beijing last week.

The top cop also said that Interpol members want to use the Philippines' campaign against illegal drugs as a model.

"Sabi nila gusto nila kasi the problem of drugs is not only sa Pilipinas, sa buong mundo halos may problema. Gusto nila kopyahin pero nahirapan sila," he said.

Based on the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's (PDEA) #RealNumbersPH, a total of 3,811 drug personalities have been killed in operations conducted from July 1, 2016 to August 29 this year.

The figure does not include the number of people killed in drug-related killings carried out by unidentified gunmen.

The PDEA also reported that a total of 107,156 drug suspects have been arrested in 70,854 operations during the same period.

It also said that a totla of 2,465 kilograms of shabu with an estimated value of P12.7 billion have been siezed. —ALG, GMA News
