Sonny Angara tweets Nancy Binay: Mocha vs. Chocolate na ba?

Senator Sonny Angara on Wednesday drew criticisms from netizens for what he said was a lighthearted tweet but at the expense of friend and colleague Senator Nancy Binay.

"Mocha vs Chocolate na ba Sen @nancybinay," Angara posted, along with a laughing and peace sign emoji, and a hashtag saying "it's on."

Angara had retweeted a clip of Binay telling Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson that it's "high time" for her to choose between her government post and her blog.

His tweet received more than a hundred replies from netizens, many of them finding nothing funny with what was called a "tasteless joke."

Anagara later defended his tweet, saying that he and Binay were friends.

"The senator and I are friends. We joke and we don't take ourselves too seriously," he said.

Binay during the Senate public information committee hearing on fake news on Thursday told Uson to decide whether she wanted to be a full-time blogger or a government official.

“Malinaw na malinaw na at this point in time, Asec. Uson, hindi mo na pwede ihiwalay yung pagiging blogger at pagiging Asec mo. I guess, para malinaw talaga, baka it’s high time for you to decide kung gusto mo maging blogger or kung gusto mo maging Asec,” Binay said.

Uson was appointed as assistant secretary at the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) last May 2017. —NB, GMA News
