PNP to improve performance after Duterte’s ratings drop, Bato vows

The Philippine National Philippine will improve its performance, PNP chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa said on Monday after the latest Social Weather Stations survey showed an 18-percentage-point drop in President Rodrigo Duterte's net satisfaction rating

"Well, they are a highly respected survey firm. Nirespeto natin yung resulta ng kanilang survey and all we can say is we will do our best to improve and will do our best to satisfy the public," Dela Rosa said in a press conference.

"Pasensya lang kung hindi medyo satisified yung publiko ngayon. Well, we will improve, promise," he added.

Duterte obtained a net satisfaction rating of +48, 18 points lower than the "very good" net satisfaction rating of +66 in June 2017 according to the results of the Third Quarter 2017 SWS survey released on Sunday.

It was the lowest record during Duterte's term and the first time that he received a mark that is below +60.

The survey was conducted just weeks after the deaths of teenagers Kian Loyd delos Santos, Carl Angelo Arnaiz, and Reynaldo de Guzman, which sparked the outcry of the public against alleged extrajudicial killings and the rising death toll in Duterte's war against illegal drugs.

The involvement of policemen in the killing of teenagers pulled down President Rodrigo Duterte's satisfaction and trust ratings, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo said on Monday.

"Well, I kinda expected that because of the incidents involving the minors, yung pagkapatay...medyo nagkaroon ng problema doon eh," Panelo said in an interview on Unang Balita.

Panelo was referring to the killings of teenagers Kian Loyd delos Santos, Carl Angelo Arnaiz and Reynaldo de Guzman, who were killed by Caloocan City policemen last August.

Panelo, however, said that the latest survey results of the SWS showed that the president still had the support of millions of Filipinos.

"But you know, if you would translate the percentage ng survey in relation to the population of the Philippines, napakalaki, ilan ang nakuha niya, 60 percent? That would be roughly 67 million Filipinos," he said. —NB, GMA News
