145 high value targets killed in anti-illegal drug ops since last year —PNP

A total 145 high value targets (HVTs) have been killed in police operations since the Duterte administration started its intensified campaign against illegal drugs last year, the Philippine National Police said Wednesday.

Director Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, head of PNP Directorate for Operations, said they have recorded 8,315 high value targets from July 1, 2016 to September 19, 2017.

He said 1,473 of these high value targets have been arrested, and 3,489 have surfaced and surrendered and are now still under the watch of the authorities.

Meanwhile, 105 have been killed and their deaths are now under investigation.

The remaining 3,103 high value targets were classified as either deceased, undergoing rehabilitation, monitored to be in other country, and mostly reported as “cannot be located in their respective areas.”

As of September 26, a total of 1,308,078 drug suspects have surrendered while 113,932 have been arrested since July 1, 2016, the PNP said. —KG, GMA News
