Honeylet Avanceña to host social events for ASEAN leaders’ spouses

President Rodrigo Duterte’s common-law wife, Honeylet Avanceña, will be the “offical hostess” of the spouses of the heads of government attending the 31st ASEAN Summit and related meetings next month.

“She would be the official hostess, yes,” Ambassador Marciano Paynor, director general for operations of the ASEAN 2017 National Organizing Council, said Tuesday in a media briefing.

Avanceña will be hosting the social events of the summit like the Gala Dinner on November 12, and the Spouses’ Program on the 13th.

Paynor said President Duterte and Avanceña will give dresses to the spouses.

“There have been confirmations of some leaders who will bring spouses and the confirmation is rather indirect because we asked them to submit measurements for the dress that the President and Madam will give as a gift,” Paynor said.

“So if they don’t send the measurements, it’s a definite indication that the spouse is not attending,” he added.

Some 21 heads of states and governments, including US President Donald Trump, are expected to attend the summit, according to Paynor. —KBK, GMA News
