BI to deport Chinese, Indian fugitives

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is set to deport two foreigners arrested in separate operations by the agency’s intelligence operatives in Metro Manila last week for various offenses.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente on Tuesday identified the foreigners as Chinese national Pan Guisheng and Indian national Reddy Koyanna Venugopal Krishna, who were arrested last Friday by members of the bureau’s fugitive search unit.

Pan, 73, is said to be a fugitive wanted for economic crimes in China while Krishna, 38, was the subject of various criminal complaints including acts of lasciviousness, estafa and issuing bouncing checks.

Morente said Pan will be deported for posing risk to public safety and security due to his being a fugitive.

He said Pan is an undocumented foreigner as his passport was already canceled by the Chinese government.

Krishna, on the other hand, will not be immediately deported due to pending criminal cases against him before the courts.

BI spokesperson Antonette Mangrobang said Pan and Krishna will be included in the immigration blacklist to prevent them from returning to the Philippines after they are deported. —Virgil Lopez/ALG, GMA News
