Trillanes dismisses sedition, coup raps as ‘harassment by Duterte minions’

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Thursday said he will not let President Rodrigo Duterte’s “minions” distract him from exposing the alleged “murders” and corruption committed by the chief executive.

“These Duterte minions are doing all sorts of harassment against me in the hope that they would be able to divert my attention,” Trillanes said in a statement.

“Sorry, but I remain focused on finding ways to continue to expose Duterte's murders, corruption and secret bank accounts; as well as Pulong's BOC smuggling and involvement in the P6.4-billion shabu shipment,” the senator added.

Trillanes was referring to the alleged involvement of Duterte's son, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, in the smuggling at the Bureau of Customs (BOC), and the shabu shipment that slipped past the bureau last May.

Trillanes made the statement following the filing of a complaint against him by a group of lawyers before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office for inciting sedition, proposal to commit coup d’ etat, and graft.

The complaint stems from Trillanes’ October 3 privilege speech wherein he said that the military might have to use their M-60 machine guns against Duterte because of the volume of evidence on the latter’s ill-gotten wealth.

"Kung makikita ito ng mga sundalo, M-60 ang gagamitin sa'yo kasi marami-rami ito. Mauubos yung magasin, kung P40 million yung hinahanap mo," Trillanes had said.

Trillanes was reacting to a speech made by Duterte where he said anybody can shoot him if it could be proven that his lifetime savings exceeded P40 million. — MDM, GMA News
