Roque tells Duterte supporters to ‘move on’ from RevGov

Malacañang on Saturday urged President Rodrigo Duterte's supporters pushing for the declaration of a revolutionary government to move on.

"Magdedeklara lang siya ng RevGov kung naghihingalo na ang ating republika at hindi po 'yan nangyayari ngayon," presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a press briefing in Zamboanga City.

"Move on, move on, please," he added.

Roque assured the President's supporters that he has complete control of the government and the country.

"Hindi naman po tayo naghihingalo. Ang Pilipinas po ngayon ay masigla. We have one of the best-performing economies in the whole of Asia," the spokesman said.

"He won by five million over his closest rival. He has absolute control through his allies in the Congress. So hindi naman po iyon kinakailangan na magkaroon pa ng RevGov," he added.

Roque also told supporters of the idea that the political opposition may take advantage of the issue to frighten the public.

"Kasi po hindi lang naman po mga alyado ang nagsasabing  kinkailangan ang RevGov. Ginagamit din po 'yan ng oposisyon para takutin 'yung taumbayan," he said.

"Bakit naman magnanais ang isang panalo na Presidente na mag-RevGov na walang dahilan?" he added.

A nationwide council organized a rally last Thursday near the Mendiola peace arch urging Duterte to declare a revolutionary government over the Philippines, which the police say was attended by over 1,000 individuals.

The call for a revolutionary government came following Duterte's pronouncement that he will not think twice about declaring a revolutionary government if his critics would try to topple his administration.
