Duterte on political dynasties: Walang problema diyan

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said there is nothing wrong with political dynasties, noting that people vote for them.

Duterte, whose children hold the top posts in Davao City, said his family does not like politics.

Duterte's daughter, Inday Sara, is the incumbent mayor of Davao City while his son, Paolo, is the vice mayor.

"Wala mang problema diyan sa dynasty. Hindi mo mapigilan ang tao," Duterte said at the oath-taking of new presidential appointees and officers from private organizations in Malacañang.

Duterte said Inday Sara even sent him a letter on the day after his oath-taking in June 2016 expressing her intention to resign from her post.

If I can just abbreviate the time," he said.

Duterte’s own party, PDP-Laban, has banned political dynasties in a draft of a federal type of government it presented in September. —KBK, GMA News
