PNP surpasses 500k lbs goal in 6-month fitness program

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has surpassed its target weight loss of 500,000 pounds under its six-month weight loss program.

Launched in June, the "Mission: Slim Possible" was aimed to ensure the fitness of policemen and prevent them from suffering lifestyle diseases.

PNP chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa earlier challenged the police force to lose 500,000 pounds but they managed to exceed this as they achieved to lose a total of 625,637.49 pounds.

The winner of the "biggest loser" challenge is Senior Police Officer 1 Jonel Banal who lost 52 pounds in six months.

Dela Rosa earlier said he had been concerned about the health of some members of the PNP. He said that lack of physical fitness had been affecting the performance of some of the police force. — Marlly Rome Bondoc/RSJ, GMA News
