Paolo Duterte, Mans Carpio sue Trillanes ‘for damages’

Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and lawyer Manases Carpio have sued Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, an official of the Davao City regional trial court has said.

Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 15 clerk of court lawyer Kaiser Kate Narciso told GMA News Online that the civil case filed was “for damages.”

The two filed the case on December 27, which was then raffled off to RTC Branch 15 under Judge Mario Duaves.

Narciso, however, said the copy of the complaint and other details may only be released as early as next week.

She added that a summon against Trillanes will then be issued after Duaves finish assessing the complaint. 

The complaint was filed months after Trillanes linked Duterte and Carpio to the P6.4 billion worth of shabu that slipped past the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in May.

Trillanes alleged that Duterte and Carpo were part of the so called Davao Group involved in corruption at the BOC.

Both denied allegations against them when they appeared at a Senate hearing on the issue.

Meanwhile, Duterte announced his resignation as Davao City Vice Mayor on Christmas Day out of delicadeza.

He mentioned the smuggling allegations against him and his public squabble with his 17-year-old daughter, Isabelle. —NB, GMA News
