BPM, IT, tourism, construction jobs in demand in 2018 —DOLE

Filipinos with skills related to Information Technology, Business Process Management, tourism, and construction are in luck as these industries are expected to open more job opportunities in 2018.

According to a report by GMA News' JP Soriano on 24 Oras on Tuesday, the Department of Labor and Employment's (DOLE) labor market signaling system indicated that in-demand and emerging jobs will be found in these sectors this year.

DOLE Bureau of Local Employment Director Dominique Rubia-Tutay said there will also be openings in the social media sector for social media analysts and chatbot operators because of the mid-term elections in 2019.

"Sila yung mga nagma-manage ng social media accounts ng certain personality. Sabihin na natin pwedeng artista, pwedeng politicians, and then they get to see ano yung mga comments, ano yung mga sinasabi sa kanila whether negative or positive and then they build on that, get the pulse of the people, and learn from it," she said.

"And even before the election time so nagpe-prepare na ang ating mga potential candidates for the election and then look at the pulse for the people," Tutay added.

Jobseekers can sign up to the government job portal PhilJobNet and match their skills to jobs in the industries they wish to enter.

Tutay reminded jobseekers to check the validity of their job offers and to be wary of the validity of advertisements offering employment.

"Huwag silang basta-basta lang maniniwala duon sa mga advertisement kung saan saan," she said. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
