Andanar on Duterte’s ‘excellent’ net trust rating: ‘Hindi manhid ang ating mga kababayan’

Favorable ratings of President Rodrigo Duterte in the latest Social Weather Stations and Pulse Asia surveys indicate that Filipinos feel the "changes" promised by his administration, Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar said Saturday.

"Palagay ko ang mga kababayan natin hindi naman sila manhid sa mga ginagawa ng gobyerno," Andanar said in an interview on Super radyo dzBB.

The Cabinet official cited the SWS and Pulse Asia surveys, where he rebounded to an "excellent" level on the former and maintained an all-time high approval rating on the latter.

In the fourth quarter of 2017, the President's trust rating returned to an "excellent" +75 percentage points from a decline in the third quarter, according to SWS.

Meanwhile, Duterte's trust and approval ratings remained at an all-time with 80 percent and 82 percent, respectively, Pulse Asia, meanwhile, revealed.

According to Andanar, apart from Duterte's exercise of "political will" to defeat terrorists and violent extremists in Marawi, the chief executive received high trust ratings from the public due to his enactment into law of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law, the continuous campaign against illegal drugs, and the "purging" of corrupt officials in the government.

"Ito ay patunay lamang na hindi nakakalimot si Presidente ng kanyang mga pangako noong nakaraang 2016 elections," he said. — MDM, GMA News
