Asec. Mocha receives Thomasian Alumni Award for Government Service


Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson on Sunday was awarded with the Thomasian Alumni Award for Government Service by the University of Santo Tomas (UST).

According to UST's official publication the Varsitarian, the award was given by the University's Alumni Association.

In a separate statement, the UST's Alumni Association said the recipients of the award came from four levels of the government: the House of Representatives, the Senate, the judiciary branch and the executive branch.

Aside from Uson, those who were also recognized were the following:

  • Senate Secretary General Lutgardo Barbo
  • Representative Joaquin Chipeco Jr.
  • National Labor Relations Commissioner Mary Ann Plata-Daytia
  • Representative Eugene Michael de Vera
  • Court of Appeals Justice Myra Fernandez
  • Representative Marlyn Alonte-Naguiat
  • Representative Abigail Faye Ferriol-Pascual
  • Justice Amy Lazaro-Javier
  • Trade Secretary Ramon Nolasco
  • Representative Emi Calixto-Rubiano
  • Representative Frederick Siao
  • Representative Jose Tejada
  • Representative Lord Allan Jay Velasco
  • Representative Tom Villarin

The UST Alumni Association "recognizes that these individuals carry the name of the university in all their endeavors, and the ceremony was initiated as a call for the recipients to lead a life of servant leadership anchored in the Thomasian values."

Uson, now an official of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), finished medical technology in 1998 in UST and entered the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in 1999.  — LA/BM, GMA News
